Here are some details concerning the screen of the Nintendo 3DS XL:
- Nintendo 3DS uses an LCD screen
- LCD screens have three reflective layers
- each one reflects and causes glare
- with the 3DS XL, each of these three layers was specially treated
- this reduces reflectivity from 12% on the 3DS to 3% on the 3DS XL
- there’s also another screen cover that goes over the entire screen
- this was possible due to the progress of technology and a drop in manufacturing costs
- the cost of anti-reflectivity coats was too high to apply them in the past
- the current manufacturing process and cost balance make them possible to use
That is pretty nice that the Nintendo 3DS XL has better anti-reflection on the screen. The Nintendo 3DS XL has now reduced reflectivity down to 3%, so that is a nice little addition for people who play outside on the go a lot.
