Shigeru Miyamoto stated the below concerning Metroid on the Wii U:

“With Metroid it’s very easy to imagine some interesting implementation for Wii U. I think that having another screen with the gyro built in really gives you a lot of interesting opportunities for development, and we can bring a lot of our games to life in a completely unique way with that.”

“I feel like the possibilities of the GamePad for Metroid could be really fantastic,” Miyamoto told me at a different point in our conversation. “There’s certainly a lot that you could do there for that game.”

Miyamoto seems to like the idea of having Metroid come to life on the Wii U and he feels the GamePad could make possible some interesting ideas. Miyamoto also brought out that “personally” he wants Star Fox brought to the Wii U most compared to other Nintendo franchises. Miyamoto didn’t confirm that these two games are in development right now for the Wii U, but there is a possibility that both or maybe just one are being worked on. Could Retro Studios be making a Metroid or Star Fox title for the Wii U?

star fox wii u rumor Star Fox, F Zero, and Super Smash Bros. at E3 2012?

Gaming Unwrapped has supposedly heard from a source that is “extremely close to Nintendo” that Star Fox, F-Zero and Super Smash Bros. will all be in some form at E3 this year. These forms could be just artwork, teasers, or even gameplay footage. If this source is to be believed don’t expect any gameplay footage for Super Smash Bros. since it has just started development. If anything, expect them just talking about things they are implementing into the game or maybe a CGI trailer.

If you were hoping for that crossover game for the Wii U between Metroid and Starfox, well you may be disappointed. The Paul Gale Network, the people who actually started this rumor, stated that the rumor had no truth behind it. It was all just fabricated with no truth to it. If you were hoping for that crossover title announcement at E3, well you probably won’t see it.

A inside source talked to Techtroid and is claiming that Retro Studios is working on a new Star Fox title for the Nintendo Wii U and it will actually be shown off at E3 2012. The rumor also states that the Star Fox Wii U title will not be released at the launch of Nintendo’s new console. This source could actually be right since Retro has stated in the past that they are working on a title for the Wii U that “everyone wants.”

Don’t take this rumor as fact, but Retro IS working on something. Is it Star Fox though? Maybe Metroid? What do you think?

The Official Nintendo Magazine had a article about “A Brief History of Retro Studios.” Notice what is said at the end of the article about Retro’s next title:

“While some suggest this new project is likely to be a return to the Metroid franchise, we’d love to see another Nintendo hero get the retro stamp of excellence. After all, having rolled out the barrels for Donkey Kong, perhaps it’s time Retro pulled off a barrel roll of a different kind.”

Is the Official Nintendo Magazine dropping a hint to its readers that Retro is creating a new Star Fox game? This could be the case. I think Retro Studios is creating a game right now, so maybe we will see a Star Fox game for the Wii U on launch( that is if it is a Wii U game they are making).
